Visit Knoxville and WDVX Radio Broadcast

My little one and I found ourselves downtown today and we decided to slip into the Visit Knoxville office. Little did we know we were walking into a live radio broadcast with WDVX 89.9 featuring two bands. Today’s set featured Essence & Gold Country alongside the Sam Lock Trio, and it felt like each performance was designed to gently pull the room down a few notches. The music had that lived-in, steady quality where nothing was rushed, nothing was forced. The kind of sound that doesn’t demand

Southern Porch Review: Mabry-Hazen House's Juneteenth Tour Brings Knoxville's History Into Focus

On a warm June afternoon, we climbed the hill to the Mabry-Hazen House expecting to learn a little local history. Raising our son, who was born in Knoxville, we believe that it is important to learn about where we live. And how lucky are we to live in a community that offers just that. Southern Porch Reviews: Knoxville Botanical Gardens

If you asked me where to spend a slow Knoxville afternoon, I'd tell you to grab your little one, pack a water bottle (although if you forget, they have boxed water available), put on comfortable shoes, and head to the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum. The Art, The Trinkets, and The Knoxville Thrift Stores That Brought Them Home

My fiancee once said, "It's probably your designing but I feel like there's something about the She Shed that makes people feel at home when they come in." And that is exactly what our apartment is: our home. That is how I want people to feel when they walk through the door. It is filled with pieces that show who lives here and that it is a family home. This didn't happen overnight, it took time, a lot of shopping trips where I left empty handed and a whole lot of patience. I didn't buy most

The Art of Air Drying: A Slower, Softer Life in East Tennessee

Life with a newborn is busy. Life with a newborn without a laundry machine is even more busy. But somewhere between the blowouts and the burp cloths, I discovered something unexpected: air drying your clothes in East Tennessee isn't just practical. It's a small, quiet joy. Blowouts are inevitable. Every new parent knows this. But when you're hand-washing onesies and hanging them on a clothes drying rack in your front yard, you start to notice things. The way a soft breeze off the ridge does the
