Agrofuturo Director Sees Synergies in Livestock and Agriculture in Uruguay
Diego Pérez del Castillo, director of Agrofuturo, sees agriculture and livestock farming as complementary industries in Uruguay. While some see the two forms of agricultural land use as competitive, Pérez del Castillo thinks differently.
In a recent interview, Pérez del Castillo noted that the current economic situation "is not at all clear," but sees, "agriculture plus livestock farming, not agriculture versus livestock farming," as a better way forward.

Commenting on how to best use current market conditions to boost the Uruguayan agricultural sector, he said, “We are in a good position to give forage crops a boost with nitrogen and maintain pastures using binary fertilizers or fertilizers based solely on phosphorus.”
Uruguay has expansive land to use for agriculture, and a workforce that can utilize the land to create value. Its agricultural output continues to grow, and serve both the regional and global population.
