Black Women by Ja’On Moody
You don’t even walk – You carry.

Every move you make is powerful.
You are the backbone of resilience.
You were holding it down before “strong” was a compliment.
Back when it was just survival.
I seen you smile through stress,
Laugh through pain,
Show up for everybody that needed you
Even when nobody showed up for you.
And that’s the part people miss–
You don’t just love,
You pour.
Into friends, into family, into dreams
That sometimes get put on pause
Just so someone else can breathe.
They call you angry
But don’t see the full picture.
They call you loud,
But don’t hear the truth.
They call you too much–
Like the world hasn’t been too heavy on you
But I see you.
To be loved by a Black Woman is rare,
This is the greatest Love ever.
So soft, it makes people want to believe again.
It’s real when nobody else is
Beautiful in a way that ain’t just looks-
But beautiful in a way that defines-
How worth it Black women truly is.
Black Women,
You deserve it all.
Flowers everyday, Unconditional love, Effort
And a world that doesn’t keep testing
How strong you need to be.
This isn’t a poem, this is reassurance.
This is to let you know that
I see you and that y’all are amazing.
Because even when nobody says it enough--
You are everything
This world is trying to survive off of.
