Conejo Valley Days Turns 70 This Summer
There's a familiar buzz in the air around Thousand Oaks — Conejo Valley Days is back, and this year it's celebrating 70 years as the town's favorite summer tradition. The festivities kick off Wednesday, June 24, at 5 p.m. and run through June 28 at Conejo Creek Park South.
For seven decades, this has been the place where neighbors turn into friends over funnel cake and a few too many carnival rides. Expect all the classics — the Ferris wheel, Zipper, Carousel, Fun House, and plenty more — along with midway games for anyone hoping to win a giant stuffed animal, plus live music and line dancing for those who'd rather show off their moves than their aim.
Hours shift a bit through the week: 5-10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 5-11 p.m. Friday, 1-11 p.m. Saturday, and 1-9 p.m. Sunday. Admission runs $10 for ages 10 and up, $5 for kids 5-9, and free for the little ones under 5 — and on opening day, kids 9 and under get in free. Rides are ticketed separately, with deals on ticket sheets and a $35 unlimited wristband if you're planning to make a night of it.
Families with readers at home should look into the Read & Ride program — kids in K-12 who read three books before June 23 can earn free ride tickets, no strings attached.
Just remember to bring cash, since that's all the gate accepts. After 70 years, Conejo Valley Days still feels like exactly what it's always been: a few warm summer nights, good food, and a reason to gather. See you at Conejo Creek Park South.
