"Spiderman: Brand New Day" REVIEW
Spiderman is back, picking up from where he left off and diving even deeper into his mission of saving the world; the only thing he has left after turning the key that would make his best friend and girlfriend forget who he is. Alone, things seem to be going well, but its the battle with himself that sends him on a downward spiral into his deepest fears which ultimately causes him to begin to lose his powers. Throughout, he must find the one person who attempts to use her mind controllng powers to find the one thing that she needs. In a sense, this newest version bares alot of comparison to the original 2 and third installments with Tobey McGuire. The only difference is Disney finds a unique way of further joining the X-Men Franchise with that of the Marvel Universe as the most dangerous mutant of all joins the cast.
Stranger Things' Sadie Sinks steps perfectly into the role of Jean Gray as she emcompasses the mind controlling mutant who ultimately just longs for acceptance. She has an unique way of conveying that type of emotion that will have you truly invested in the person behind the monster and ultimately rooting for a comeback story even when Spiderman is the ultimate hero. It will make you wonder the unknowing future of the powerful character. Additionally, the film brings back Tom Holland as Spiderman, who ultimately is having his best season yet with two blockbuster films to be released just weeks apart. In this new episode of Spiderman we see key growth as he ultimately tries to use his job, fighting for the good while bottling up his new emotions and watching his friends, MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) grow further away from him as they achieve their goals at MIT, the school that they once all were talking about going to.
Finally the film also introduces another enemy of Spiderman in Tombstone as Krondon joins the story as well as Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Frank (Jon Bernthal) rounds out the cast.
All in all, Spiderman Brand New Day is by far one of the smoothest stories yet since the original that came out in 2002. It is packed with action, emotion and so much more as it digs deep into it's comic roots to provide a story that enthusiasts will throughly enjoy as well as the kids that love and have grown up with the web slinging super hero.
The film came out in theaters July 31st and swept the box office opening weekend with 355 million domestically making it by far one of the top movies of 2026. It is currently playing in one near you. See it for a fun loving, fast paced good time.
