Verizon “BOLD” took over the student center of Norfolk State University for a

mobile lab that provided insights into what the company can offer to different majors. The event

discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in customer service settings and the

impact on future job roles. In addition, Students had the opportunity to listen, learn, and connect.

with “BOLD” executives within Verizon, gaining valuable knowledge in the professional field

and receiving post-graduation tips.

The Verizon “BOLD” initiative stands for Black Originators, Leaders, and Doers. They are one.

of 10 resource groups within Verizon. Furthermore, this highlights their impact in the field.

The Verizon event started the morning with an Executive Panel, which showcased 8 “BOLD”

respective panelists with various backgrounds. The panel host was the Executive Lead, Kwame.

Trotman. Panelists included SVP, Yolana Stancil, VP, Latanya Buggs, AD, Bryant Lewis, Sr. Dir.

Marcus Wynn, Sr. Dir. Shawn Akinuli, Sr. Dir. Kyre Trotman, Cslt. Cedric Richardson, Analyst

WNO, Kaylan Bullock.

During the panel, “BOLD” leaders covered important topics for students. Topics included

professional field guidance, networking skills, and internships, and highlighted the value of

taking calculated risks.

The first panelist, VP Latanya Buggs, shared her experience with networking and its importance.

“What I admire is what I call a tribe. For me, it's about people who help each other along the way.

and pull each other through. What I always say is "your network is your network.”

Then Sr. Dir. Kyre Trotman discussed the value of taking risks.

“You can't assume you have tomorrow to accomplish something you can do today, and if you do,

it is the epitome of arrogance because tomorrow is not guaranteed. This would be a catalyst for

me to do a lot of things, like pursue my doctoral degree. So go look for opportunities, be

proactive about your networking, and reach out.”

After the panel, the floor was open for students to connect and network with executives while

eating a catered lunch provided by the Verizon Team.

Following the networking session, the “BOLD” team held an informative session, which

highlighted different internships and opportunities. This session was led by Cslt. Cedric.

Richardson. In addition, Students could connect with Verizon's “BOLD” recruiter and ask

questions about after graduation and professional tips on how to land interviews and job offers.

The Verizon “BOLD” Mobile Career and Awareness Event concluded with a hands-on exhibit.

of the evolution of Verizon's Telephones over the decades. This exhibit showcased dated phones.

from the 19th century to the current 21st century. Furthermore, Students had the opportunity to

interact and hear old sounds and sound bites used by old Verizon hardware and software.
