Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed that he was removed from office through a virtual meeting conducted on Zoom, describing the process as one of the most unusual experiences in his political career.

Speaking during a recent interview, Oshiomhole recounted the events that led to his removal as APC national chairman in 2020, stating that he learned of his dismissal through decisions taken during an online meeting of party leaders.

The former Edo State governor said the circumstances surrounding his removal reflected the intense internal power struggles that existed within the ruling party at the time. According to him, political interests and disagreements among key stakeholders contributed significantly to the crisis that eventually led to the dissolution of the party's National Working Committee (NWC).

Oshiomhole maintained that despite the controversy, he accepted the outcome in the interest of party unity and national stability. He noted that political leadership often requires sacrifices and that personal ambitions should not be placed above the collective interests of the party.

His comments have reignited discussions about one of the most turbulent periods in the APC's history, when internal disputes, court cases, and factional battles threatened the cohesion of the governing party.

The crisis eventually prompted then-President Muhammadu Buhari and other party leaders to support the dissolution of the NWC and the establishment of a Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to reposition the party.

Political analysts believe Oshiomhole's latest remarks provide fresh insight into the behind-the-scenes events that shaped the APC's leadership transition and continue to influence political alignments ahead of future elections.

Despite his removal as national chairman, Oshiomhole remains a prominent figure within the APC and currently serves as a senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

His revelation has generated mixed reactions among party members and political observers, with many revisiting the circumstances that led to one of the most dramatic leadership changes in Nigeria's ruling party.
