National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has disclosed that activist Aisha Yesufu once rejected an offer to contest for a House of Representatives seat under the party's platform.

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Dickson said the offer was jointly made by him and the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, but Yesufu declined because she preferred to pursue a Senate seat instead.

According to Dickson, the House of Representatives ticket was highly sought after by many aspirants, making Yesufu’s decision to turn it down noteworthy. He described her as someone with bigger political ambitions and maintained that the party leadership had made genuine efforts to accommodate her aspirations.

The revelation comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding the NDC’s Federal Capital Territory senatorial primaries, which Yesufu had earlier criticized, alleging irregularities in the process. Dickson, however, urged party members and supporters of Peter Obi to focus on strengthening the party rather than attacking its leadership.

Despite the disagreements, Dickson emphasized that Yesufu remains a member of the NDC and expressed hope that all stakeholders would work together to build a stronger opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
