The next step of the $70 million renovation of the Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley will include a hotel-within-a-hotel concept, as well as a highly regarded Japanese restaurant.

The property, which is located at 7200 N. Scottsdale Road in Paradise Valley, was formerly known as Scottsdale Plaza Resort but rebranded earlier this year as the Valley’s only Kimpton resort. The Kimpton has already completed renovations at 260 guest rooms and added new meeting spaces and amenities, but in the final quarter of this year it will start showing off its second phases of updates under its new ownership and management.

The renovations should be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

Arash Azarbarzin, the principal of Highgate, the property’s management group, said the Kimpton Miralina has already added to the Scottsdale-area’s hospitality scene.

“With Phase Two, we complete that vision with villas, a new luxury residential experience for guests who want privacy and service in equal measure, and the arrival of Katsuya, a culinary debut Scottsdale has not seen before,” Azarbarzin said.

The second phase of renovations at the 40-acre Miralina resort includes updates to its 134 Valley Villas, the addition of The Enclave – an exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel experience – increased partnership with lifestyle hospitality group SBE Entertainment Group, which will open its modern Japanese restaurant concept Katsuya on the property, as well as more than 50,000 square feet of refreshed meeting space.

The Enclave is a new luxury concept designed to bring “an added layer of privacy, personalization and serenity” for its guests. The Enclave is made up of just ten residence-style guest accommodations inspired by contemporary Japanese design principles.

Each Enclave residence features a kitchenette, expanded living space, and a spa-inspired bath experience. There is also a private pool complex that includes warm and hot pools, a cold plunge, sauna, and dedicated relaxation spaces.

New Kimpton restaurant focuses on Asian fare

The new Katsuya restaurant will be the Enclave's culinary centerpiece. The restaurant is one of Los Angeles-based SBE’s global brands. Its menu is based around sushi and sashimi, robata-grilled specialties, and premium cuts.

“What makes this partnership distinct is how we've integrated Katsuya throughout the property, creating touchpoints in service, design and amenities like the onsen-inspired pool and The Enclave residences that extend the Katsuya experience across the resort,” said Sam Nazarian, the founder and CEO of SBE. "Katsuya has always thrived in destinations that bring together exceptional design, culture and hospitality.”

Katsuya joins Hecho Libre, which is the resort’s Mexican restaurant that was designed by Chef Wes Avila, who has been recognized by the James Beard Awards. The property, which is owned by Trinity Investments, is trying to position itself as a culinary destination in the competitive Scottsdale/Paradise Valley hospitality market.
