Mayor of Lawrence news

The mayor of Lawrence fraudulently obtained a pandemic loan and attempted to use the money to fund his campaign and pay off high interest mortgages on several of his properties and personal taxes.

Obviously, if you say you're going to use it for your campaign, you can't use it for personal payments as well.

You can't pay off personal bills and taxes with a loan meant for your election campaign.

He was also going to use it for his personal tire business which he lied about and instead just used on his mortgages and campaign. This was all the way back in 2021 and he is just now being caught!

He was arrested on august 14th at his home. He faces up to 20 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release and a fine of up to 250,000. He also faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, 3 years

of supervised release and another fine of 250,000 if convicted for money laundering as well.
