South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has confirmed the repatriation of 586 Nigerian nationals found to be residing in the country illegally.

According to the department, the affected individuals were deported following immigration enforcement operations aimed at identifying and removing foreign nationals who failed to comply with South Africa’s residency and visa regulations.

Authorities stated that the deportations form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security, uphold immigration laws, and address concerns over undocumented migration. The government reiterated that all foreign nationals living in South Africa must possess valid permits and comply with the country's immigration requirements.

The Department of Home Affairs emphasized that enforcement actions would continue nationwide, warning that individuals found violating immigration laws could face detention, deportation, and possible restrictions on future entry into the country.

The latest repatriation highlights South Africa’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration as authorities seek to improve migration management and ensure adherence to national laws.
