Carbondale Fire Department to Host Fire Prevention Week Open House
- Carbondale Fire Department Invites Community to Fire Prevention Week Open House
The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Fire Station #2, 401 N. Glenview Drive, and will give residents an opportunity to tour the station, meet local firefighters and learn more about the services provided by the department.
Firefighters will conduct live vehicle extrication demonstrations at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., giving visitors a closer look at how emergency crews respond when people must be rescued from vehicles following serious crashes.
The event will also feature fire safety house tours and activities for children, including a special appearance by Sparky, the Fire Department’s mascot.
The open house concludes National Fire Prevention Week, observed Oct. 4–10. This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses attention on safely charging and using rechargeable devices.
For additional information about the open house, residents can contact the Carbondale Fire Department Administrative Office at 618-457-3234 or visit the City of Carbondale Fire Department’s Facebook page.
Fire Prevention Week information is also available through Fire Prevention Week, while fire-safety activities designed for children are available at Sparky.org
