Seven Suspected Boko Haram, ISWAP Commanders Arrested While Returning from Hajj

Security operatives have arrested seven individuals suspected of being senior commanders of the terrorist groups Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) upon their return from the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation at their point of entry into the country. The operation was reportedly carried out following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

Authorities allege that the seven suspects are linked to terrorist activities in Nigeria's North-East and are believed to have held leadership positions within Boko Haram and ISWAP. Investigators are currently questioning them to determine the extent of their involvement in insurgent operations and to identify other possible collaborators.

Security agencies have not disclosed the identities of the suspects, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Officials said the arrests demonstrate the government's continued commitment to combating terrorism and strengthening border and airport security.

The suspects are expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution in accordance with Nigeria's anti-terrorism laws if sufficient evidence is established against them.

The arrests come as security agencies continue to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and improve intelligence-sharing aimed at preventing extremist activities across the country.
