Seven Former Australian Captains Raise Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Case

Islamabad: Seven former Australian cricket captains have written to the Australian government expressing concerns over the case of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his treatment in custody.

In the letter, the former captains described the matter as one of “basic humanity” and urged the Australian government to pay attention to concerns regarding Khan’s health, access to medical care, meetings with his family and communication with his legal team.

The letter was signed by Allan Border, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark, Kim Hughes, Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh.

The former captains said their appeal was not intended to take a position on Imran Khan’s legal or political case, but to raise concerns about the humanitarian treatment of a person in custody.

The letter was addressed to Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong.
