"Hope" REVIEW
It’s Resident Evil meets Quiet Place with a Korean twist.
When a creature arrives at a South Korean harbor town called Hope and starts brutally mutilating innocent animals, a team of cops and hunters seek to find the creature and destroy it. What they soon discover is there is more than one that is all together not at all human as a rouge space ship is discovered in the forest beside the city. Will they be able to conquer the aliens or be running for their lives instead?
At 2 hour and 40 minute run time, Hope is an action packed movie that will have audiences on the edge of their seats. Spoken entirely in Korean it’s a relatively simplistic dialogue that even subtitle challenged people will be able to understand. The action moves sequentially with the words on screen bringing humor to a very scary situation.
Hope stars an entirely Korean cast including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, with a couple non- korean actors like Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander to spice things up again. Overall, the movie is far underrated as it is not getting nearly the amount of screen time as the mainstream movies. That being said Hope is certainly an entertaining movie that will keep your attiention from the first scene on. With strong action packed scenes and an exceptional storyline, it's no wonder it's already being nominated for two awards including the international Cannes Film Festival. It'll be interested to see what other awards it takes as the season begins to pick up soon.
For now just go out and see Hope, exclusively playing in a theater near you.
