Punta del Este Celebrates Its 119th Birthday, Will Continue to be Top Tier Vacation Destination
Punta del Este is celebrating its 119th anniversary with "innovation" plans to continue attracting tourists and new residents through technology and remote work, and with a public works schedule slated to begin this year.
Celebrations brought together local government and residents, led by acting mayor Miguel Plada, who highlighted the Uruguayan resort as "a safe investment destination and the main driver of the country's tourism economy."

In an interview with Local media, the mayor of Punta del Este stated that the resort town “continues to grow” and highlighted several ongoing public works projects, as well as projects included in the Maldonado Departmental Government's budget adjustment.
Plada highlighted the acquisition of Enjoy Punta del Este by the Brazilian group JHSF, which “will allow the arrival of one of the leading Brazilian hotel brands.” The mayor also emphasized “the upcoming opening” of the Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences & Casino complex, at stop 12 on Brava Beach.
