For Jo Wahl, her husband Dan, and her son Ryan Dobbs, Friday brunch at Cinnamon Café made for a perfect family gathering. The three met at this Albuquerque eatery near Juan Tabo and Eubank.

Cinnamon Café has earned its reputation as a neighborhood spot. The smell of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls greets guests at the door, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to settle in for a leisurely meal. Beyond the dining room, the café is known for its baking expertise and cooking classes that draw home cooks eager to learn from the kitchen.

On this Friday, the family enjoyed their meals together. Jo ordered the egg croissant sandwich. Dan went with the chicken soup. Ryan chose the Greek omelette with fruit.

The café draws a mix of customers: families at large tables, couples sharing plates, solo diners reading while they eat.

"I don't know why we started talking politics," Jo says with a wink.
