ALBANY, N.Y. - Tea lovers looking to expand their palate can now explore rare teas from around the world through Elevation Tea Company’s guided tasting experience.

Founded by Jennifer Martinez, Elevation Tea Company specializes in premium loose-leaf teas and plant-based sachets, featuring everything from single-origin teas sourced from Kenya to California-inspired blends and wellness teas.

One of the company’s signature offerings is its Rare Tea Tasting Kit, which includes eight tea samples, tasting cards and a flavor wheel designed to help drinkers identify tasting notes, similar to a wine tasting.

Martinez said the idea came from growing up just south of California’s Napa Valley, where wine tasting is part of the local culture.

“I realized that’s part of the wine experience that other industries don’t embrace,” Martinez said. “It’s so much fun, it’s so interactive, and it takes that moment of tea and turns it into more of an interactive experience.”

The tasting kit is designed for both experienced tea enthusiasts and beginners, making it an option for tea parties, social gatherings or anyone interested in learning more about different tea varieties.

Beyond its tasting kits, Elevation Tea Company offers a growing selection of traditional and flavored teas. Martinez said the company uses organic flavorings along with herbs, roots and botanicals to enhance its blends while maintaining the quality of its high-grade teas.

“We’re using the same rare high-grade tea to make these flavored teas,” Martinez said. “There’s something for everyone.”

Elevation Tea Company currently sells its products exclusively through its website, where customers can browse its expanding collection of teas and tasting experiences.

Martinez hopes more people will think of tea as a social activity.

“Tea is fun,” she said. “Maybe instead of doing a wine girls’ night or a get-together, try switching it out for tea and see what happens.”
