The New Kids of Comics

Six breakout comic creators assembled at SWCBCS to tell the stories of how they got started and where they are heading. Myrka Elizalde, Jared Tree, Ella Bishop-Heil, Evie Mann, Derrick Fleece and Derek Moreland each had very different journeys but were all shaped by a love of comics. Bishop-Heil started a regional zine, Tree won a Spawn contest, Elizalde is exploring a new medium after years as a storyboard artist. They discussed their different genres, stylistic choices and approaches towards being published as well as their opinions on things like Webtoon and digital vs print publishing.
