The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has launched a financial empowerment initiative aimed at supporting former inmates as they reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives.

The programme provides financial assistance and other forms of support to eligible ex-inmates, helping them establish small businesses, acquire vocational skills, and become self-reliant. According to the state government, the initiative is designed to reduce recidivism by creating economic opportunities for those who have completed their prison terms.

Governor Sani said the programme reflects his administration's commitment to rehabilitation, social inclusion, and the protection of human dignity. He stressed that individuals who have served their sentences deserve a second chance to become productive members of society.

The governor also urged beneficiaries to make good use of the support by investing in legitimate businesses and contributing positively to their communities.

Stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a practical step toward reducing crime and promoting sustainable reintegration. They noted that providing financial and vocational support to former inmates can help address the social and economic challenges that often hinder successful rehabilitation.

The initiative forms part of the Kaduna State Government's broader efforts to promote inclusive development, reduce poverty, and strengthen community safety through rehabilitation and empowerment programmes.
