San Angelo hosted a large high school track meet this weekend, with teams from across the Concho Valley and nearby areas competing over two days at San Angelo Stadium. Schools in the meet included San Angelo Central, Lake View, Wall, TLCA, Grape Creek, Christoval, Miles, and several visiting teams. The event was one of the bigger early-season meets for local track programs.

Events took place throughout both days and included running finals, relays, hurdles, and a full schedule of field events. Coaches used the meet to see how their athletes are performing as the season gets closer to district competition.

San Angelo Central and Lake View had several strong finishes in sprint and relay races, while Wall and Christoval performed well in distance events. TLCA, Grape Creek, and Miles also had athletes place near the top in multiple events, showing progress as the season continues.

Field events were competitive, with solid results in the long jump, pole vault, shot put, and discus. Many athletes recorded personal bests, which coaches say is a good sign this early in the season.

With district meets coming up in the next few weeks, the competition gave teams a chance to see how they compare with other schools in the region. Athletes will use the results from this meet as motivation as they prepare for the most important part of the season.

San Angelo is expected to host more track and field meets later this spring as teams work toward qualifying for regional and state competition.
