Bayshore Park Opens: Miami Beach Unveils 20-Acre 'Once-in-a-Generation' Green Space

Miami Beach residents gathered Sunday morning to celebrate a milestone decades in the making — the grand opening of Bayshore Park.

The nearly 20-acre park, now one of the largest public spaces in the city, officially opened along Pine Tree Drive near 24th Street. What was once a par 3 golf course has been transformed into a sprawling recreational destination featuring a central lake, dog park, six competition-level tennis courts, and multiple activity areas.

Hundreds of attendees kicked off the morning with live music and wellness activities while exploring the park's extensive amenities.

"Bayshore Park is a transformational milestone for Miami Beach and a once-in-a-generation investment that redefines how we live, play, and connect as a community," said Mayor Steven Meiner. "It shows that in Miami Beach, health, safety, and quality of life are not distant goals — they are the foundation of our community every single day."

Funded in part by the 2018 voter-approved General Obligation Bond, the park offers something for everyone: an earthen amphitheater, playground, jogging trail, serpentine boardwalk, pavilion, butterfly garden, vita course, and fitness cluster. The popular Sunset Hill now provides one of the best vantage points in the city for watching the sun dip below the horizon.

The project also prioritized environmental sustainability. Commissioner Alex Fernandez noted that extensive remediation transformed the site into "a model of sustainability and environmental stewardship." The central lake features a circulation system with oxygenated water and infrastructure designed to collect stormwater runoff from surrounding neighborhoods.

For safety, the park is equipped with motion-activated lighting and security cameras throughout.

Bayshore Park is located at Pine Tree Drive and 24th Street and is now open to the public.
