Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has addressed speculations about a possible political coalition involving the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is being associated with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on the growing discussions surrounding opposition realignments, Dickson said political alliances should be driven by the national interest and a shared vision for good governance rather than personal ambition.

He noted that consultations among political leaders are a normal part of the democratic process, especially as the 2027 elections draw closer. However, he declined to confirm whether any formal coalition talks involving the NDC and the ADC had been concluded.

Dickson emphasized that any alliance aimed at challenging the ruling party must be built on clear principles, credible leadership, and policies that address Nigeria's economic and security challenges.

Political observers say the comments reflect the ongoing consultations and strategic alignments taking place among opposition figures as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

While speculation continues over the possibility of a broad opposition coalition, no official announcement has been made regarding a merger or formal partnership between the NDC and the ADC.
