The party begins this September 19, 2026 to celebrate the Capitol Theatre's centennial anniversary celebration this fall. That's correct The Capitol Theatre turns 100 years old! This iconic rock palace has been a staple in Port Chester, NY for decades. Originally built by known Scottish architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 it's now known as a Landmark in this area.

In the 1920's when it had it's grand opening, the theatre was equipped with the only theatre refridgerating system in Westchester County. The grand opening contained a performance with a ten-piece orchestra playing "The Star Spangled Banner" and showing the film, "Sea Wolf" sold out of all of its seats (then 2,000) then had to turn hundreds away.

Fast-forward 2026 this landmark theatre turns 100 since it first opened its doors in 1926. The concert will feature a myriad of bands including the Centennial band Pink Talking Fish headlining the evening and BERTHA a drag queen version of The Grateful Dead band will pay tribute to The Dead's legacy with high energy plus there will be special guests throughout the night! Port Chester is known to me as "Dead Head" city because the band The Grateful Dead played a concert there and it was known as one of Jerry Garcia's favorite venue to perform at besides the Fillmore East. Saying that the Capitol Theatre had a "groovy vibe" to it.

There's always something special for everyone that enters this legendary theatre, and now if you haven't been here you get to experience it live for yourself if you come to this concert! Don't miss it if you're a Dead Head fan!
