Mentor, Ohio — The City of Mentor has announced that reconstruction of the Mentor Civic Center pool complex will not be completed in time for the 2026 swim season, pushing the anticipated opening back to 2027.

City officials cited unforeseen construction challenges and unfavorable weather conditions as the primary causes of the delay. The new splash pad complex at Eleanor B. Garfield Park has also been set back for similar reasons.

Despite the setbacks, city officials expressed confidence that both upgraded facilities will meet and exceed resident expectations when they open for the 2027 season.

In the meantime, residents can still enjoy swimming and splash pad amenities at Morton Park, which remains on track to open June 1 as originally scheduled. Discounted seasonal passes for 2026 will go on sale May 1.

The city extended a sincere apology for the inconvenience and expressed gratitude to Mentor residents for their continued patience and understanding as construction moves forward.

The announcement was shared through the city's official social media channels and website last week.
