Adeyemi: NDC Demands Immediate Sack of Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila Over Alleged Misconduct

The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately relieve his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, of his duties following allegations raised by Adeyemi, insisting that the matter deserves urgent attention in the interest of transparency and accountability.

In a statement issued on Friday, the coalition said the allegations have generated widespread public concern and should not be ignored by the Presidency. According to the group, maintaining public confidence in government institutions requires swift and decisive action whenever senior public officials are accused of misconduct.

The NDC argued that the office of the Chief of Staff occupies a strategic position within the Presidency and, as such, must be held to the highest ethical and professional standards. It maintained that allowing the allegations to remain unresolved could undermine public trust in the administration's commitment to good governance and accountability.

The coalition urged President Tinubu to demonstrate leadership by immediately suspending or removing Gbajabiamila from office pending the outcome of an independent investigation. It stressed that such a move would not amount to a declaration of guilt but would instead reinforce the principle that no public official is above scrutiny.

"The integrity of public office must be protected at all times. Nigerians deserve a government that is transparent, accountable, and willing to investigate allegations involving even its highest-ranking officials," the coalition stated.

The NDC further called on relevant anti-corruption and investigative agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into the issues raised by Adeyemi. It said the findings should be made public to ensure justice and strengthen public confidence in democratic institutions.

The group also appealed to civil society organizations, the media, and Nigerians to continue demanding accountability from public office holders while allowing due process to take its course.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila had issued an official response to the NDC's demand. Likewise, the specific allegations referenced by Adeyemi had not been independently verified.
