Historic Raleigh Hotel South Beach Undergoes Major Renovation

MIAMI BEACH, FL — The iconic Raleigh Hotel, a cornerstone of South Beach's architectural heritage since 1940, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation that promises to restore the Art Deco landmark to its former glory while modernizing amenities for contemporary guests.

The multi-million dollar project is being led by developer Victor Hotel Group in partnership with New York-based architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle, known for their expertise in historic preservation. Local contractor Suffolk Construction has been tapped to execute the extensive renovation work.

The scope of the project includes a complete restoration of the hotel's 104 guest rooms and suites, upgrades to the property's signature pool area—famously featured in fashion shoots and films—and the addition of a new rooftop bar and restaurant space. The renovation will preserve the building's distinctive Art Deco facade and architectural details while incorporating modern sustainability features and updated mechanical systems.

Work began in early 2024 following months of planning and permitting with the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board. The renovation has required careful coordination to maintain the integrity of the building's historic designation while meeting current building codes and accessibility standards.

The project is expected to reach completion in late 2027, with a grand reopening planned for early 2028. Once complete, the Raleigh Hotel will join a growing number of restored Art Deco properties that are helping to preserve Miami Beach's unique architectural character.

Local preservationists have praised the renovation approach, noting that it sets a positive example for balancing development pressures with historic conservation in the rapidly changing South Beach neighborhood.
