A new report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused all major parties involved in Mali's ongoing conflict of committing serious human rights abuses, raising fresh concerns over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the West African nation.

According to the report, government forces, allied militias, and armed insurgent groups have all been implicated in unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, torture, arbitrary detentions, and attacks against civilians during military operations.

Human Rights Watch said civilians continue to bear the brunt of the violence, with thousands forced to flee their homes as insecurity spreads across several regions of the country. The organization warned that persistent abuses by all sides have deepened fear among local communities and undermined efforts to restore peace and stability.

The report called on Malian authorities to conduct impartial investigations into allegations of human rights violations and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, regardless of their affiliation.

HRW also urged armed groups to respect international humanitarian law by protecting civilians and refraining from attacks on non-combatants and civilian infrastructure.

The rights organization appealed to Mali's international partners, including regional and global institutions, to support accountability measures and strengthen efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable populations.

Mali has faced years of instability fueled by insurgency, intercommunal violence, and political upheaval, leaving millions of people in need of humanitarian assistance. Humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that continued fighting is worsening food insecurity, displacement, and access to essential services.

As violence persists, Human Rights Watch stressed that lasting peace in Mali will require not only military and political solutions but also justice for victims and stronger protection of human rights across the country.
