Utah Valley is making program history this week as the Wolverines travel to Mexico for their first-ever appearance in the Cancun Challenge at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

The tournament tips off Tuesday against South Dakota State, followed by a Wednesday matchup with Samford. Both games start at 4 p.m. MT and will stream live on FloCollege.

Riding High Into Cancun

The Wolverines (3–2) head south with momentum after a thrilling 79–72 victory over preseason Big West favorite UC Irvine last Wednesday at the UCCU Center. That win extended Utah Valley's remarkable home winning streak to 15 games—the fourth-longest active streak in the nation.

Isaac Davis led the charge with a career-high 18 points, adding five assists, four rebounds and two blocks. Jackson Holcombe notched his third double-double of the young season with 12 points and a career-best 12 rebounds, while Trevan Leonhardt contributed a career-high 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Hayden Welling chipped in 14 points, including two clutch second-half threes.

By the Numbers

Through five games, Utah Valley ranks among the nation's elite in several categories: eighth in field goal percentage (.538), 11th in blocks per game (6.6), 15th in assists per game (20.6) and 20th in effective field goal percentage (.601). Leonhardt sits ninth nationally in assists per game (7.4), while Tyler Hendricks is shooting a scorching 61.9 percent from three—fourth-best in the country.

Scouting the Opposition

South Dakota State (4–2) arrives riding a dominant 105–58 blowout of Georgia State. The Jackrabbits shot 61.7 percent and dished out 28 assists in that contest. Jadin Jackson leads SDSU at 13.5 points per game.

Samford (3–4) features one of the tournament's most dangerous scorers in guard Jadin Booth, who averages 21.1 points while shooting 41 percent from deep and 90.5 percent from the line.
