The Beginner’s guide to The 35th Annual Murrieta Birthday Bash
On Saturday, June 27 the City of Murrieta will be hosting its 35th Annual Birthday Bash at the California Oaks Sports Park. The event will begin at 2pm with the opening of the Kid Zone and will end the night with a firework show at 9pm. There is no admission fee for this event.
There are going to be two bands performing throughout the evening including The Patrick Howard Trampus band (PHT), followed by Paging the 90s, the event's headlining band. PHT begins its show at 5pm, and Paging the 90s will be at 7:15pm.
PHT is a “modern country rock band” covering a large variety of artists like Merle Haggard and Jason Aldean according to the PHT website. Afterwards, there will be a huge switch in genre as the night will enter into another decade with Paging the 90s.
Paging the 90s is dedicated to “Unleashing 90s nostalgia with the greatest hits and memories of the raddest decade!” according to Paging the 90s website.
Besides the live entertainment, there will be a variety of vendors, games, and other activities for all ages. The variety of vendors at this event will include business, food, and non-profit vendors according to The City of Murrieta’s website. The city does also ask that there are no dogs, alcohol, smoking, or BBQs at the event.
The whole park will be open for guests to bring chairs, EZ-Ups, and whatever else they would like to camp out for the fireworks. If you want to get a good spot for the firework show at 9pm, it is recommended to get to the park early, find a spot, set up your things quickly, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon until the show.
If you don’t plan on buying food from the vendors available, make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the day. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in, parking is limited and it is often required to walk far from your car to get into the park.
When looking for parking, keep in mind that California Oaks Road will be closed between Jackson and Lincoln Ave. from 12- 10pm the day of the event. Parking in the business park across from the event is prohibited and may result in your car being towed if you are only using the space for event parking.
The best parking options include neighborhood street parking, specifically in the neighborhood directly South-West of the park, accessible from Monroe Ave onto Sunflower Rd.
In past years, there has also been available parking in the dirt lot of Murrieta Fire Station #2. There are no official sources stating that it will be available this year, but it may be an option if guests are comfortable walking about a half a mile.
The Birthday Bash is a huge event for the City of Murrieta, come and be a part of the community that makes Murrieta the “Gem of the Valley.”
