Public Meeting Set for Proposed Glover Road Mine Modification

A public meeting and hearing has been scheduled for a proposed modification to a sand mining permit in Jasper County.
The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services will hold the meeting on September 17 at Lakeside at Blue Heron in Ridgeland.
The meeting will focus on a proposed modification requested by Okatie Construction, LLC for a sand mine at 835 Glover Road.
The site is approximately 2.9 miles southeast of Ridgeland.
According to SCDES, the application includes a proposed reclamation plan that would restore the site to a lake after mining operations.
The public meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a public hearing beginning at 7 p.m. Sign-in and an opportunity to speak with SCDES staff will begin at 5 p.m.
Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposal and provide oral or written comments to state environmental officials.
The meeting will be held at Lakeside at Blue Heron, located at 153 James L Taylor Drive in Ridgeland.
