Climber Rescued Following 300-Foot Fall on Mount Idaho

On July 18, a serious rescue operation took place in the Lost River Range after a climber suffered a significant fall on Mount Idaho. Custer County Dispatch received the emergency call at 12:18 p.m., reporting that an individual had fallen approximately 300 feet.

Due to the remote location and the severity of the climber's head injury, the Custer County Search and Rescue coordinator launched a multi-agency response. The operation utilized specialized aerial support, including Air St. Luke’s 1 out of Boise and an Idaho National Guard TALON70 helicopter. The TALON70 crew successfully hoisted the injured climber from the mountain, transferring them to waiting ground teams and Air St. Luke’s medical personnel for transport to a hospital.
