During the school year, many rural community public schools, like our two little towns in the Big Mountain Valley have for many years closed on Friday. This gave farm and ranch families a time for the entire family to work the ranch and the farm together. In the last three decades, sports activities, clubs and three day weekends have taken up the time, and most kids in our now tourist and seasonal towns, are not exposed to Agrarian growing or entrepreneurial pursuits.

AGE to Age

Agrarian thought in community, recreation, education, arts, transportation and entrepreneurship should be the backbone of community. At our weekly summer Farmer's Market, ironically on Friday there are many soap, trinkets, books, and baked goods in the booths. A few micro-farmers are represented yet not a lot of local crops or ranch.

4-H Happenings and Family Fun

This weekend music, games and Family Fun came out. Meanwhile, Steve Schultz, and Friday kids tennis at Memorial and Hermit Parks next to the Old Westcliff School House are getting summer rolling. The Christian School has just completed their 2026 school year. On Tuesday June 9th, we will sponsor the first Agrarian Voices Class at the school house. Speaking with 4-H at Family Fun Day, the possibilities are endless especially in how community, recreation, education, arts, transportation and entrepreneurship are fusing together. In the age of AI, education reform, and meeting challenges, we get a shot at thinking and action through Agrarian and Entrepreneurship at home through our work and in our communities.
