Boaters in Miami Beach have a safer, more accessible launch point following the completion of major upgrades at Haulover Park Marina, one of Miami-Dade County's busiest public boating facilities.

County officials marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, January 9, 2025, at the marina's boat launch on the northern end of Haulover Park.

The comprehensive overhaul addresses longstanding concerns about tidal flooding and storm vulnerability while modernizing the facility for everyday use. Key improvements include:

• Elevated parking areas and access roads to reduce flood exposure

• Two new docks to better manage vessel traffic

• Floating docks replacing fixed structures, allowing them to rise and fall with changing water levels

• Upgraded drainage systems, lighting and wayfinding signage

• Electric vehicle charging stations

• Refreshed landscaping throughout the site

The $13.8 million project was funded through the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond, a Florida Inland Navigational District grant and Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department funds.

"Investments like this ensure our waterfront remains accessible to the public and resilient to flooding," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. "These improvements strengthen Haulover Park Marina's ability to serve the community today while preparing for future conditions."

District 4 Commissioner Micky Steinberg called the marina "a vital recreational and economic asset" for the community, noting that the modern infrastructure will protect the heavily used facility from flooding and storm impacts for years to come.
