My 2026 Vision Board Owes Me an Apology

  • Third Quarter Check-Up on 2026

The Inside Pass-- Remember back in January when we were all cutting out pictures, sipping something bubbly, and declaring with full confidence:

“THIS is my year.”

Ah yes. The vision board era.

Mine? Oh, she was stunning.

Launching my own media brand, travel, glow-ups, calm mornings, and financial peace. All coming together to create a little main-character energy sprinkled on top.

What I got instead was… character development.

And not the cute, montage kind, where everyone throws their heads back while running through the woods laughing with reckless abandon.

I am talking the outtakes version, where I run smack into a tree or five while being chased through the woods by Jason, Freddy Krueger, and that weird cartoon alligator that fueled my childhood nightmares.

Because somewhere between “new year, new me” it became “what fresh hell is this?”

Then 2026, the year that promised renewal and a new path said: hold my sweet tea.-- the prickly part of that is I HATE sweet tea!

For those sitting on the sideline saying, "this year has been peachy keen for me" let’s recap, shall we?

That peaceful, organized life I envisioned?

It was replaced by emails, deadlines, and a calendar that looks like it lost a bar fight, then was used as someone's welcome mat after a muddy trek through the woods.

That “I’m going to say no and protect my peace” energy? Turns out, I said yes… a lot. To things. To people. To absolute nonsense.

(Experts will tell you that vision boards are meant to guide your focus—not magically deliver your dream life … which feels like information we could have used in January.)

And let’s talk about those aesthetic Pinterest mornings I planned. You know the ones: journaling, sunlight, maybe a green juice moment.

Reality:

Coffee. Panic. “Why is this happening?” energy. Followed by a Sugar-Free Red Bull, and a round or two of circular breathing.

Now, to be fair, vision boards aren’t totally useless. They’re supposed to help you stay aligned with what you actually want—in theory .

But what they don’t warn you about is… plot twists.

Because 2026 didn’t just pivot.

She pirouetted, split her pants, and replied to all within the last 8 months.

As if that wasn't enough, she took Dolly Parton from us and then in the same day said "oh wait heaven needs Tim Curry as well." All while sounding like my third grade teacher, "come along children, recess is over, no Hard Candy Christmas for you and you'll never do The Time Warp Again."

Some goals? Still pending.

Some dreams? Rerouted.

Some plans? Bless their hearts.

And honestly? That tracks.

Because if we’re being real, most of us start the year with big intentions… and by February we’re just reacting to whatever life throws at us anyway .

So where does that leave the vision board?

Still cute. Still aspirational. Just… slightly delusional. But here’s the twist no one puts on the board:

Maybe the win isn’t that everything came true. Maybe the win is that you’re still standing, still laughing, still figuring it out— even if your “dream life” currently looks more like a blooper reel.

So if your 2026 vision board is sitting somewhere collecting dust…don’t toss it.

Just add a sticky note that says:

“Results may vary.”

And maybe—just maybe—that is the vibe.
