The “Generous Pour” is a summer wine and food pairing event now through August. Flight of Majesty Take flight with six prestigious Duckhorn Napa Valley wines with the purchase of a dinner entrée. The Amuse Bouche was a center piece of watermelon, goat cheese, pistachio, honey and fig balsamic on the plate. A small bite and spoke of a lighthearted summer moment.

Paired with my favorite wine of the entire meal was Goldeneye Rosé Brut. With a romantic pink hue, and flavors of ripe strawberry, watermelon chunks, and baked French breads. Sophisticated nuances of honeysuckle and juicy apricot. I really loved the mouth feel of this sparkling darling

First Course Paired with: Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc and Duckhorn Chardonnay. I’m don’t drink Sauvignon Blanc unless I'm having seafood or fish. The Duckhorn chardonnay was very special with exotic grilled pineapple flavors.

There are several choices in each category on the Flight of Majesty menu for each course. I chose the tomato bisque soup with chive oil drizzle, creme fresh, and a marvelous crostini with a creamy brie cheese spread.

The second Course was a NY strip medium rare with decadent mashed potatoes and fresh roasted garden asparagus. Paired with Duckhorn merlot, Pinot noir, and a special Duckhorn heritage cabernet sauvignon just for this event.

Duckhorn’s pride and joy is the merlot and it delivered all the charm that I desire. I truly admired the light freshness of the earthy Pinot noir loaded with cranberry, sage, and blood orange rind. The cabernet is wonderful with unique, tastes of boysenberries, mulberries, baking spices, and a hint of saddle leather.

Time for a rich chocolaty dessert, I had a taste of the flourless chocolate cake with pistachio brittle and raspberry jam. It tastes more like dense rich fudge. I added a timeless creme brulée to my meal with fresh blackberries and a smoky crunch to each bite.

The Capital Grille has a full menu for everyone and happy hour 3-6 PM on M-F.
