Punta del Este Celebrates Winter Solstice With Food and Craft Fair in Plaza Mexico, Homelessness Addressed
The shortest day of the year was celebrated in Punta del Este with a food and craft fair in Plaza Mexico. The open event was a great success and offered the public numerous food options. It also welcomed visitors with a free yoga class, and live music.
Plaza Mexico is located at Avenida Italia and Avenida Veracruz, north of the peninsula.

The event was given life by the Departmental Interest and was organized by Manifiesto Eventos with the support of the Maldonado Departmental Government, the Municipality of Punta del Este, and other local organizations.
Punta del Este is a proactive community that wants to maintain its competitive position. To make sure everyone in the community is well served, the Punta del Este Hotel Association is looking for solutions to homelessness.
Recently a meeting was held at the Maldonado Chamber of Commerce with authorities from the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES), regarding the rise in homelessness.
Héctor Araújo commented on behalf of the, Punta del Este Hotel Association, "The proposal wasn't just to make demands, but also to contribute ideas and seek agreements. We understand that this is a problem affecting the entire department and that it requires fundamental solutions," regarding the rise in homelessness in the area.
