A 74-year-old man from Riggins, Idaho, has died following a fatal crash that sent his vehicle into the Salmon River. The incident occurred on the evening of August 7, 2026, at approximately 7:23 p.m.
According to the Idaho State Police, the man was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 95 in a silver 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Near milepost 198, the vehicle reportedly went left of center, exited the roadway from the left shoulder, and submerged into the river. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the cause of the vehicle’s departure from the highway.
