Twin Falls Police Officer Shoots Dog During Active Investigation

On Wednesday, August 12, an incident occurred in Twin Falls involving law enforcement and a local pet. According to the Twin Falls Police Department, two officers arrived at a residence in the vicinity of Diamond Avenue and Lois Street around 1:30 p.m. to conduct business related to an ongoing investigation.
While one officer was at the front door, the other moved to the side of the yard. During this time, a large Rottweiler reportedly emerged from the side of the house and charged toward the officer. Fearing for their safety as the dog approached, the officer fired their weapon, resulting in a gunshot wound to the animal. The department is currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding the encounter.
