Voice & Biometric Data Notice

How My Local Press handles your voice when you use AI voice narration.

My Local Press offers an optional feature that narrates your published content in your own voice. To do that, we create an AI model of your voice from a short recording you provide. A voice model can identify you, so we treat your voice recording and voice model as biometric information. This notice explains what we collect, why, where it lives, how long we keep it, and how it is destroyed. It applies only to voice narration — our general Privacy Policy covers everything else.

What we collect

A short audio sample of your voice, which you record or upload when you set up voice narration, and the resulting AI voice model. We also keep a record of your consent.

Why we collect it

For one purpose only: to narrate the content you publish on My Local Press in your own voice. We do not use your voice for anything else.

Where your voice data lives

We use ElevenLabs as our voice provider. Your recording is sent to ElevenLabs to create the voice model.

We do not store your raw voice recording. The audio is sent to ElevenLabs to build the model and is not retained by My Local Press. We store only a reference to the resulting voice model and your consent record.

ElevenLabs processes your voice on our behalf as a service provider, under their own Privacy Policy and Voice Processing terms.

How long we keep it

We keep your voice model and consent record for as long as your voice narration is set up — that is, for the life of your account, or until you delete your voice, whichever comes first. We do not keep them longer than needed for the purpose above.

How we destroy it

You can delete your voice at any time in Settings. When you do:

  • We delete the voice model from ElevenLabs.
  • We purge our stored voice-model reference and consent record.
  • Deletion is honored regardless. If the deletion at ElevenLabs ever fails, we still remove our records and log the failure so it can be resolved.

We never sell or trade your voice

We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your voice recording or voice model, and we do not share it with anyone beyond ElevenLabs, the provider needed to run the feature.

Your consent

Before we ever send your voice to ElevenLabs, you confirm and we record that:

  • It's your voice — this is your own voice, or one you have explicit permission to use.
  • Limited purpose — it will be used to narrate the content you publish.
  • Duration — it lasts until you revoke it.
  • Revocable — you can delete your voice at any time.

We store this consent — your confirmations, the version of these terms you accepted, and the date — alongside your voice-model reference.

Your rights

You can review or delete your voice at any time in Settings. For access requests, deletion help, or any question about your voice data, email hi@mylocalpress.com.
