Welcome to My Local Press

We're excited for you to join us on our mission to ensure the future of independent local journalism and make the world a better place in the process. We're here to support you on your entrepreneurial endeavor. A primary objective of ours is to make the platform work so well that you can publish your stories and other content, run your publication (collecting advertising revenue, subscriptions, and direct support — How payments work), and reach your readers with zero friction. We're moving fast to achieve that objective. Currently, updates are being made and new features added daily. We love feedback and feature requests. And if you find a bug, let us know. Bug finders receive an extra month of Premium in addition to the 30-day risk-free trial.

Who this is for, and where each of you starts

  • A journalist on your own, working, retired, a student, or anyone who shows up to the council meeting with a phone. The three steps above are your whole start: a profile, a vouch, a first story. The middle one is the good part; a vouch is a real person putting their own reputation behind you. For journalists has everything after that.
  • A publication, existing or new: a paper, a radio station, a TV desk, a podcast. Bring the masthead and the team; your publication has the rest.
  • A storyteller, or a reader who wants in: open the community feed, where your town has a newspaper: stories, events, classifieds, notices, newest first, free to read. Tap Read on a journalist or a publication to follow them, then post something of your own, an event, a classified, a service, an obituary. For readers and storytellers walks it through.
  • A business with something to say: your own feed is yours, free. Back a journalist by name, back a whole community, or buy a spot from a paper that publishes its rates; that is how local businesses fund local journalism here, and are seen doing it. For businesses and advertisers has the three ways and what they cost.
