Dump Truck Takes Down Highway Sign
EUCLID, Ohio — A dump truck's ill-fated encounter with an overhead highway sign brought traffic on I-90 East to a standstill for nearly three and a half hours Tuesday, leaving commuters scrambling for alternate routes through the east side of Cleveland.
The incident occurred near East 185th Street in Euclid, where the over-height vehicle struck a roadway sign with enough force to bring it crashing down onto the highway.

Footage from an Ohio Department of Transportation traffic camera captured the aftermath: the Exit 183 sign for East 222nd Street lying collapsed across the lanes, rendering the stretch of interstate impassable.

ODOT crews responded to the scene to assess structural damage, clear debris, and ensure the roadway was safe for travel before allowing vehicles to pass. All lanes were ultimately reopened after approximately 3.5 hours of closure.
Over-height vehicle strikes are a recurring concern on highways that pass beneath low-clearance structures, and incidents like this one serve as a reminder of the potential hazards posed by commercial vehicles that exceed posted height limits.
ODOT has not released information on whether the driver of the dump truck faces any citations in connection with the crash. No injuries were reported.
