BREAKING: Police Arrest Alleged Fake PFIPC DG, Adeniyi Adeyemi

Security operatives have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) without lawful authorization.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, Adeyemi was taken into custody following complaints that he had been presenting himself as a top government official and allegedly using the position to engage with individuals, organizations, and public institutions.

Authorities said preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may have issued documents, made representations, and attended meetings while claiming to hold the office of PFIPC Director-General. Investigators are currently examining the extent of his activities and whether any financial transactions or official communications were carried out under the alleged false identity.

The arrest comes amid growing public concern over the proliferation of individuals who impersonate government officials in order to gain influence, secure contracts, or obtain financial benefits from unsuspecting members of the public.

A senior security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the suspect would be questioned extensively and could face multiple charges, including impersonation, obtaining by false pretence, forgery, and unlawful use of government insignia, if the allegations are substantiated.

“The government takes issues of impersonation very seriously because they undermine public trust and can damage the integrity of public institutions,” the source said.

The PFIPC has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest, but officials close to the council reportedly welcomed the development, describing it as a step toward protecting the credibility of the institution and preventing further abuse of its name.

Legal analysts say the case could have significant implications if investigators establish that the suspect used the purported office to influence investment discussions or solicit funds from prospective partners.

As of the time of filing this report, Adeyemi remained in custody while investigators continued gathering evidence and interviewing relevant witnesses.
