Time is Running Out to Fight California Wildfires
Even though Autumn is upon it, LA is falling victim to a slew of wildfires. In the past, they have been neutralized. This time they are fast-moving and pose a threat to fire departments struggling with dousing them.
The blaze has burned 570 acres at a rate of 150 yards per minute. Orange County’s fire department has happened upon edifices completely turned to dust. According to Good Morning America this single wildfire has caused 16,000 citizens to evacuate. They have contained “zero percent” of it.
Officials are quoted as saying they took evasive measures before the wildfires were expected to spread. Palm trees are being incinerated with more than 400 firefighters are making efforts to steady the flames. Interstate 5 in San Diego shut down with poor timing for rush hour drivers.
Tom Llamas of NBC Nightly News says areas north of Los Angeles are experiencing wind gusts of up to 50 mph. The fear of utilities drying up abounds. This is due to the possibility of power lines falling or burning to a crisp. There are at least 6 million who could be affected by this inundation which appears apocalyptic in its overwhelming advance against civilians and public safety workers alike.
