🚧 BAILEYTON ROAD CONSTRUCTION: WHAT DRIVERS NEED TO KNOW

If you traveled Baileyton Road (SR 172) tonight, you may have encountered construction and a detour.

I ran into the construction myself while picking up my wife and had to be rerouted.

TDOT is currently carrying out a major resurfacing project along approximately 11.68 miles of SR 172, from US 11E/SR 34 to I-81.

The project was awarded to Summers-Taylor, Inc. for approximately $2.99 million, with contractual completion scheduled for October 31, 2026.

However, there's an important question for drivers: TDOT's current weekly roadway activity report does not specifically list a full closure or scheduled detour for SR 172 this week.

So what caused the detour tonight?
