Steph Curry Aces History: NBA Star's Hole-in-One Electrifies Lake Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament
Stephen Curry made history on July 15, 2023, drilling a stunning hole-in-one during the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe, Nevada
and the crowd went absolutely wild.
The Golden State Warriors superstar notched the ace on the par-3, 152-yard seventh hole, becoming the first player ever to hole out on that specific hole in the tournament's storied history. His tee shot landed just two feet from the pin, took one bounce, and vanished into the cup sending Curry sprinting down the fairway in a full-on celebration run before leaping in jubilation and slapping the flagstick.

"That was wild," Curry said afterward. "It was good contact, right at the stick, but even if you're painting the flag and it looks good, you never really expect it to go in. I just saw a bunch of hands go up, and then you just kind of black out."
It was the second ace of Curry's golf career and it couldn't have come at a better time. Under the event's modified Stableford scoring system, a hole-in-one earns eight points, compared to the three points he's used to collecting from beyond the arc on the basketball court.
NHL star Joe Pavelski, who was paired with Curry during Saturday's round, had a front-row seat to the magic.
"You see it land, and it just disappears," Pavelski said. "It was pretty cool. We were trying to get to Steph. He just kind of spins out of it and takes off. He's got some good speed on him."
The moment vaulted Curry to the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round of the 54-hole event, with 50 points. Pavelski and former pro tennis player Mardy Fish are tied for second at 47 points, while former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder a three-time champion and actor Jack Wagner, a two-time winner, are both at 38 points.
The tournament boasts a star-studded field this year, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (the defending champion), former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, NHL's Alex Killorn, former LPGA Tour legend Annika Sorenstam (tied for eighth with 34 points), and former NBA star and sports commentator Charles Barkley — who finds himself near the bottom of the leaderboard at minus-23 points, sitting in 81st place after two rounds.
