KHADIJA SAM-SUMANA RECEIVES MASSIVE WELCOME IN KONO AS SAM-28 MOVEMENT GAINS STRENGTH
Madam Khadija Sam-Sumana received a heroic reception in Sandor Chiefdom, Kono District, on Sunday as supporters of the Sam-28 Movement turned out in large numbers to demonstrate growing support for former Vice President Chief Sam Sumana’s anticipated bid for the All People’s Congress (APC) presidential flagbearership.
The event, held in Tefeya Town, drew hundreds of party loyalists, traditional leaders, women, youths, and residents from various parts of Sandor Chiefdom, highlighting the increasing momentum of the movement across the district and beyond.

Speaking during the gathering, Hon. Kassegbama thanked the Paramount Chief, traditional authorities, and the people of Sandor Chiefdom for the warm welcome extended to Madam Khadija Sam-Sumana and her delegation.
He described the Sam-28 Movement as a fast-growing national force inspired by hope, unity, and development.
“This movement is ordained by God. It has come to stay, and its message of hope is resonating throughout the country,” Hon. Kassegbama declared.
According to him, Chief Sam Sumana’s presidential ambition is driven by a commitment to national unity, inclusive governance, peace, and sustainable development rather than personal interest.
He urged the people of Kono District to support Chief Sam Sumana, noting that the former Vice President possesses the experience, wisdom, and leadership qualities necessary to lead Sierra Leone effectively.
In a symbolic display of traditional hospitality and endorsement, the people of Sandor Chiefdom presented Madam Khadija with cola nuts, palm oil, a goat, and other gifts to signify acceptance and solidarity with the Sam-28 Movement.
Also addressing the gathering, National Spokesperson of Team Khadija Sam-28, Daniel Frank Adamani Kargbo, commended APC stakeholders in Kono for their continued dedication to the party and the movement.
Kargbo described Madam Khadija Sam-Sumana as an influential political figure who has played a significant role in advancing her husband’s political ambitions.
“She has boldly stepped forward and taken her rightful place at the forefront of this national movement,” he stated.
In her keynote address, Madam Khadija Sam-Sumana urged supporters to remain focused and avoid political deception, while reaffirming her confidence in Chief Sam Sumana’s ability to lead the APC and the country.
She formally announced to supporters in Sandor Chiefdom that Chief Sam Sumana would contest for the APC’s presidential flagbearership.
Madam Khadija also encouraged women across Sierra Leone to unite, support one another, and actively participate in national politics.
“If we stand together as women, we will command greater respect both nationally and internationally,” she told the cheering crowd.
She praised the Sam-28 Women’s Wing in Kono for their loyalty, sacrifices, and prayers toward the movement, expressing confidence that their commitment would yield positive results.
Calling for unity and reconciliation, Madam Khadija revealed that Chief Sam Sumana has forgiven those who may have wronged him in the past, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his commitment to peace and national cohesion.
She further assured supporters that the leadership of the movement remains committed to securing the release of members currently in police custody.
“Our colleagues have not been abandoned. Every effort is being made behind the scenes to secure their release,” she assured supporters.
Madam Khadija concluded by expressing appreciation to the people of Sandor Chiefdom for their hospitality, loyalty, and overwhelming support for the Sam-28 Movement.
The engagement in Sandor Chiefdom marks another major step in the continued expansion of the Sam-28 Movement, as support for Chief Sam Sumana’s anticipated APC flagbearership bid continues to grow across Sierra Leone.
