Miami Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Over 400 Smart Toilets Worth $400,000
A Miami man faces felony charges after allegedly orchestrating an elaborate scheme to defraud his employer, stealing more than $400,000 worth of high-end bathroom fixtures over a three-month period.
Paul Joe Gomez, 37, was arrested and charged with first-degree grand theft and organized fraud after allegedly "diverting company merchandise" from SW Corporation in Brownsville, according to a Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office arrest report. The stolen inventory included more than 400 smart toilets, bathtubs, shower doors, and saunas.

The scheme unraveled in September 2025 when an SW Corporation employee discovered someone advertising the company's Anzzi brand smart toilets on Facebook Marketplace. The employee immediately noticed red flags.
"The listings depicted Anzzi products being offered for sale at prices and in quantities inconsistent with legitimate retail distribution," the employee told investigators.
Posing as an interested buyer, the employee contacted the seller and learned they had access to bulk inventory. The seller mentioned receiving "a pallet of toilets" on a specific date, which prompted the employee to review surveillance footage and internal records.
The security camera footage allegedly revealed Gomez loading 13 toilets on pallets into a moving truck "quickly and without paperwork." Video from multiple dates showed a pattern of unauthorized removals, with Gomez repeatedly "loading pallets of toilets and tubs" into the truck, "indicating a repeated pattern of diverting company merchandise from the premises rather than a single isolated occurrence," according to the arrest report.
Another employee reported additional suspicious behavior in early October. Gomez had "on numerous occasions, requested preparation of special orders of toilets requiring immediate pickup," the report states. When warehouse staff asked for documentation, Gomez allegedly told them "the shipments were handled by him and that no paperwork was required, which is inconsistent with standard inventory and shipping controls for high-value product."
Investigators determined that between June 23 and September 29, 2025, Gomez loaded or directed others to load unauthorized merchandise at least 10 times, with the total value exceeding $400,000.
When deputies arrested Gomez, he consented to a search of his vehicle, where detectives found several legal pads "containing quantities, dollar amounts, and notations including words such as toilets and water heaters." He also gave limited consent to search his residence for toilets.
Gomez was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of first-degree grand theft and organized fraud.
