Grimace Spotted Supporting the Lemoore High School Basketball Team!

LEMOORE - If you were out and about in Lemoore yesterday, you might have been lucky enough to catch Grimace shooting waves and scoring vibes outside of our local McDonald's on the corner of N. Lemoore Ave. and Hanford Armona Rd., just across from Walgreens and 7-Eleven.

Accompanying Grimace outside the restaurant were students and teachers from Lemoore High School holding up signs and beckoning passersby to come and support the basketball team.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jason Black, the head coach of the Lemoore High School basketball team. He told me that one of the teachers on staff knows someone who works at our local McDonald's, and that's how this fun collaboration was kickstarted. The partnership was officially dubbed McFundraiser Night, and Ronald McDonald sent his best ambassador to the scene.

It may have been overcast, but Grimace was a ray of sunshine to all who passed by. Waves, honks, smiles, and cheers attracted a crowd of cars driven by local residents who wanted to grab a meal in support of their home basketball team. A portion of all incremental sales from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 21 went straight to the high school.

The funds raised on McFundraiser Night are to be split into the school's accounting so it can be properly used for gear, balls, and other equipment for the basketball team.

The first game of the season for the LHS basketball team will be against Hanford West on Nov. 17. Come and cheer them on!
