Upcoming Presentation on Hotel Biarritz in Punta del Este
As part of Punta del Este's 119th anniversary, there will be a talk about the Hotel Biarritz and the legacy of Camilo Guani, one of its original proponents.
The Hotel Biarritz is a landmark building in Punta del Este from the early 20th century.

It had 102 bedrooms, and its history dates back to 1905 when Argentine investors acquired 24 plots of land.
It operated as a hotel from the 1907-08 season in a Punta del Este that was not yet known by that name, but rather as Pueblo Ituzaingó.
At that time, Punta del Este was a fishing village.
Valentín Trujillo, Fernando Cairo, and Mario Scasso will contribute their insights in the presentation.
The presentation will take place this Wednesday, July 15, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Benito Stern Room of the Municipal Building, located at Gorlero and Calle 30, in Punta del Este.
In the early days of Punta del Este, the hotel was notable.
The few existing buildings in Punta del Este at the time were rudimentary, contrasting sharply with the scale of the establishment.
Its name was taken from the French seaside resort.
In August 1907, it acquired potable water brought from the La Pastora area, a 7-ton dynamo for the hotel's power plant, and furniture and tableware imported from Europe.
Today Punta del Este is highly developed, offering incredible infrastructure for both vacations and full time living.
